Merritt Island Airport,

 Merritt Island, FL KCOI

Just 35 miles east of Orlando, you'll find 72 miles of pristine Atlantic beaches known as Florida's Space Coast. Along this impressive stretch of coastline, unspoiled nature preserves exist in perfect harmony with the space-age attractions of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Port Canaveral and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.

Merritt Island airport is located on the east coast of central Florida, approximately 35 miles from Orlando. The island can be divided into two distinct parts. In the south you will find major residential and commercial developments including our airport. The north part of the island is given over to the Kennedy Space Center and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Cocoa Beach and the Atlantic ocean are no more than 8 miles further east.

Our airport is centrally located within the residential area of Merritt Island and serves a thriving aviation community. Approximately 240 aircraft are permanently based there with an average of 311 operations per day. The 3,600 ft runway has recently been upgraded and is aligned to take advantage of the pre-dominant sea breezes that help coast areas stay cool in the summer. The airport has a published instrument approach procedure and pilot controlled lighting for night flying.
