STARTING ENGINE ABOVE FREEZING
1. Mixture -- FULL RICH
2. Propeller -- HIGH RPM
3. Throttle -- OPEN 1/2 INCH
4. Ignition Switch -- BOTH
5. Auxiliary Fuel Pump - ON until fuel pressure (flow) peaks then OFF
6. Propeller Area -- CLEAR
7. Throttle -- OPEN 1/4 INCH
8. Ignition Switch -- START (RELEASE when engine starts)
9. In Event of an Overprime Condition:
a. Mixture -- IDLE CUT-OFF
b. Throttle -- OPEN
c. Ignition Switch -- START Position
d. As the engine fires, reduce throtle to IDEl and advance the mixture control to FULL RICH
10. Oil Pressure -- CHECK
11. External Power (if used) -- DISCONNECT. Battery and Generator Switches -- ON
12. Warm Up -- 1000 to 1200 RPM
13. All Engine Indicators - CHECK
AFTER STARTING AND TAXI
1. Brakes -- RELEASE AND CHECK
2. Avionics Equipment -- ON AS REQUIRED
3. Lights -- AS REQUIRED
4. Transponder -- Standby
5. Turn Coordinator -- WORKING
6. Magnetic Compass -- FULL OF FLUID
7. Suction/Vacuum -- WORKING
8. Electrical (Ammeter) -- CHECK
BEFORE TAKEOFF
1. Parking Brake -- SET
2. Cabin Doors -- CLOSED and LATCHED
3. Flight Controls -- FREE and CORRECT including rudder
4. Flight Instruments -- SET including magnetic heading indicator, attitude indicator, and altimeter
5. Fuel Selector Valve -- BOTH
6. Elevator Trim -- TAKEOFF
7. Throttle -- 1700 RPM
a. Mixture -- LEAN for Max RPMs, RICH below 3000'
b. Magnetos -- CHECK (RPM drop should not exceed 125 RPM on either magneto or 50 RPM differential between magnetos)
c. Carburetor Heat -- CHECK (for RPM drop)
d. Engine Instruments -- CHECK
e. Ammeter -- CHECK
f. Suction Gage -- CHECK
8. Throttle -- 1000 RPM
9. Throttle Friction Lock -- ADJUST
10. Radios -- SET
11. Takeoff Clearance -- AS NEEDED

TAKEOFF
Normal Takeoff

2. Carburetor Heat -- COLD
3. Throttle -- FULL OPEN
4. Elevator Control -- LIFT NOSE WHEEL at 55 KIAS
5. Climb Speed -- 80-90 KIAS (78 KIAS Vy)
Short Field Takeoff
1. Wing Flaps -- UP
2. Carburetor Heat -- COLD
3. Brakes -- APPLY
4. Throttle -- FULL OPEN
5. Mixture -- RICH (Above 3000 feet, LEAN to obtain MAX RPMs)
6. Breaks -- RELEASE
7. Elevator Control -- SLIGHTLY TAIL LOW
8. Climb Speed -- 64 KIAS (Until all obstacles are cleared)
9. Wing Flaps -- RETRACT slowly after reaching 78 KIAS
ENROUTE CLIMB
1. Airspeed -- 70-90 KIAS
2. Throttle -- FULL OPEN
3. Mixture -- RICH below 3000', LEAN for MAX RPMs
CRUISE
1. Power -- 2200-2500 RPM (no more than 75%)
2. Elevator Trim -- ADJUST
3. Mixture -- LEAN for MAX RPMs

1. Seats, Belts, Harnesses - ADJUST and LOCK
